Welcome to Kurunjang Secondary College

Welcome to Kurunjang Secondary College.  I am thrilled to have been appointed as principal beginning 2010.  The College is made up of nearly 100 staff, 750 students and their families who are working together to continually look at ways to improve the college for the success of our students.

As a co educational secondary college built in 1986, we are proud of a history that demonstrates our commitment to be an integral part of the Melton community.  We have excellent facilities, which include a learning centre, a comprehensive library, a modern technology centre, art facilities, a gym, which also serves community sport, music facilities and a vast number of computers and interactive communication technologies, all surrounded by well-maintained grounds and gardens.

Students are encouraged to do their best and involve themselves in a range of extra-curricular activities.  Students have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and work with other members of the college community through the Student Voice program.  Students are also encouraged to take an interest in developing and improving the college.

Recently, the college community worked together to develop a shared vision.  The motto, Learn, Grow, Achieve Together highlights this shared vision.  Staff and students are learners who continually reflect on their skills and work together with other members of the college community to further improve themselves both personally and academically.  Kurunjang Secondary College is focused on further developing students and improving their opportunities for a successful future.  Considerable work is being completed in the focus area of effective teaching and learning.

We are aware that our youth need to be prepared for a rapidly changing world.  Families and schools have an increasing responsibility to prepare our young people for the changes and issues that lie ahead.  This is a responsibility that we at Kurunjang Secondary College take very seriously.

All students need to be highly literate and numerate to help develop their skills in other areas.  These skills are continually assessed and built upon in an orderly learning environment.  All members of the college community are expected to behave according to the College values of respect, high expectations, safety, honesty, and perseverance.  These values are required for success in their future work and personal life.

The staff at Kurunjang Secondary College take time to know each student so that they can develop a challenging learning program that builds on their skills.  The 4As of Achievement, Attendance, Aptitude and Attitude are the areas used to help demonstrate each student’s commitment to their learning program.  Together, students, families and staff strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for all students.

Parents and Community members are involved in the college through a range of forums.  We welcome new families and prospective enrolments to visit the college and see us in action.  You will get an idea of how committed and passionate we are in working with young people and helping them become the best they can become.
